Raw Footage

We were caught off guard, Gary and I.

Our church youth group was gathered to celebrate God’s plan for marriage. Our son, Collin, was the youth intern; Dylan a senior. Each of us were to answer a question; luck of the draw would give us a serious or not-so-serious question about marriage.

Collin was to answer “whose marriage do you admire and why?”. We have been surrounded by many strong marriages, marriages that have conquered the odds. Who does he admire?

The answer surprised us. His answer was “my mom and dad’s. It is raw footage.”

Swallow hard. No, you don’t need to go to the bathroom, and no that is not your phone ringing….Please, don’t expose our raw footage!

Raw footage. That’s accurate. That’s true. That’s exposure.

Raw footage is a compliment. Raw footage is how we learn. Raw footage tells others that we are human. Raw footage reveals that we can’t do this on our own. Only God himself can take two stubborn, willful, prideful and self-centered people to make a holy marriage.

So, I have dedicated a section of my blog to Raw Footage. Raw Footage of me, our marriage, and our family. Enjoy, laugh and remember: God is good.

p.s. Nothing will ever be posted about someone in my family without their permission 🙂
